“My thoughts are stars I cannot fathom into constellations.” -John Green, The Fault in Our Stars

What Did?

April25

What did the carrot say to the wheat?

” ‘Lettuce’ rest, I’m feeling ‘beet.’ “

What did the paper say to the pen?

“I feel quite all ‘write,’ my friend.”

What did the teapot say to the chalk?

Nothing, you silly . . . teapots can’t talk!

~Shel Silverstein

The reason I like this poem is because it doesn’t have a deep meaning; it is a funny, laughable poem. It also has lots of figurative language and personification which makes it enjoyable to read.

I Am From…

November22

I am from a happy place,
From playing with the dog to reading a book.

I am from the welcoming white home,
The smell of that nights dinner on the stove
And the warm fulfillment feel of a complete family.

I am from palm trees and purple flowers,
With the green grass growing tall
Along the little white fence with my handprints
Trailing along throughout my life.

I am from family game nights,
Sitting around together with Clue and Rummy-cube
I am from Dori and Uri
To Taylor and even Elvis too.

I am from jam packed Saturdays
To lazy day Sundays
From running cross country
To just running around doing errands.

I’m from the tickle monster
To the tooth fairy
And even princesses too.
From the Wiggles
Growing up to Dancing With the Stars.

I’m from the small, sunny town of Boca Raton
From Ellen and Ann to Ben and Jay.

I’m from family times at Zilker Park,
Watching Redbox movies,
And cooking as a family (minus my sister).

I am from a loving place.
Where love is not just an imagination, yet a real thing.

Fall

October26

Walking along the nature trail
Feel the wind blowing in your hair,
Chomping of the leaves beneath your feet,
Picking out the perfect pumpkin,
With a smile among your face,
Fall

My favorite season is fall. I love the weather, it’s not too cold but not too hot. My family and I get to take my dog to the dog park and sit and play outside without having to leave because of the hot sun blistering on our skin.

What’s your favorite season?

Cross Country

September26

Before school,
Beyond the sweaty football players,
On the field,
Without mercy,
Despite the pain,
Past the point of no return,
According to the coach,
Cross Country
